A new Hymn for Europe: European Soul2007-09-23T10:27:00Z

In September 2005, the
Song"European Soul"composed by the Austrian
Peter Jedlickawon a prize in an art competition organized by the
NOE-Kulturforumin Lower Austria, entitled:
"In search of the European Soul"This song has a good chance to become
Europes new Hymn, because it is much easier to sing than Beethoven´s"Ode to joy".
And it has a
unique conceptto include
all languages of the EU Member States: The first verse is always sung in
english language, the second verse and the final short verse are sung in the language of the country where it is performed.
On this website we´ll keep you up with news about this composition, give you the chance to
downloadthe
lyricsand the
melody(in MIDI file format), and tell you in which countries, by which artists or choirs the song is performed or recorded.
And you can join in !If you want to
performthis song live - most likely within a Europe-related event - or put it on a
recordplease tellus about it. And if you do not find a language version of your country on this website, please
mailif you have a
proposal for a translationin your mother tongue.
So let us"share the good things"as is stated it the final lines of the song"European Soul"

Swiss Singers show interest2005-11-08T15:18:31Z

Strange, but true:
Even though Swiss is not member of the European Union so far, some swiss hobby-singers, engaged in the topic of reaching an EU membership for Swizerland, show interest in singing the song - to encourage others for their goals.
WIll they perform it in public ? You will read it here ...
Recordings on CD2005-10-01T07:56:33Z

The song"European Soul"can be heard on the compilation of the prize winners of the art contest of

The sound quality depends on your soundcard or your sound-software ( on older computers it might sound like a computer-game-music ... but on modern computers with wavetable synthesis it should sound great ( Strings, Drums, Piano, Harmonica for the 1st voice, Sax for the 2nd voice ).

englischen Strophe, Melodie A+B )
( Melodie A )
Lyrics2005-09-26T11:43:00Z
As was mentioned on the main page, the concept of this Hymn is, that the first verse ( containing Melody A and B ) - and half of the final verse ( Melody B ) - is sung in english language, the second verse and the other half of the final verse is sung in the language of the country where it is performed.
So here are the english verses by Peter Jedlicka. You can listen to the
Melodyusing the provided
MIDI File.
( Melody Part A )
I see the hills, I see a river,
I see the houses way down low
I see no borders, I see no frontiers
I feel a spirit that will grow( Melody Part B )
I see the people, hear them laughing
Speaking words I don´t understand
But when I see their smiling faces
I know that I can take their hands.( Second Verse - second language - melody parts A+B,
so far available in
German( Original Version )
2x Melody Part A:HUMMING of the Melody (for choirs + second voice )
INSTRUMENTAL SOLO (for bands )
Final Verse:
( Melody B )
Cause I believe, that we can reach you
And that we have a common goal
To share the good things, and help through hard times
And build that European Soul( Final Verse - second language - Melody B )
If you are able to translate these verses into another language of the european union you do not yet find on this homepage, please write an
email! ( it should"rhyme"and it should be singable ! ).

Here are Websites and RSS Directories where this Homepage / Weblog is listed:
Feed Shark Eine neue Europahymne: European Soul2005-09-23T10:43:00Z
